Are you familiar with the work of Jack Vance? You might enjoy, especially his "Demon Princes" series.

ANY Jack Vance story is light years (lol) beyond most available SF these days. Reynolds stuff is great. AI dystopia: trilogy, "the Red" by Linda Nagata. fascinating, horrifying, and ulitmately- optimistic!

Greg Egan is my favorite and has been for a long time. Specifically his "Subjective Cosmology" series, which is essentially an anthology of self-contained stories loosely connected by the overall themes.

"Distress" is my personal best, it's a detective story at it's core, which somehow manages to extrapolate and consider a ton of trends and bio-tech, math, physics, ai, and bring it all into a cohesive future his characters live in. Extra points for his take on how a libertarian utopia could spring up and stay afloat in the world of nation-states.

"Permutation City" is another one, probably his strongest book concept-wise in the way it makes you think about the limitations of your own consciousness.

As a stem guy who doesn't read often, I really enjoyed Eversion and it's engaging pace compared to other sci-fi I'd read before. Thanks for the list.
